Description
A bushel gourd is a large hard shelled gourd which can grow as large as a bushel basket, hence the name. These gourds are known for their impressive size, sometimes exceeding 3 feet in diameter and weighing up to 100 pounds. One of the largest gourds, most often 12 to 18 inches in diameter. Oblate shape. Fruit are picked after they have matured on the vine and then put in storage to dry. Has a durable shell if cured properly.
