55 Days | This turnip has been in our catalog since the first copy. It is the standard home, market garden and shipping variety turnip for table use. Tops medium, compact, cut-leaved. Roots globular, smooth, bright purplish red above, white below. Becomes 5 to 6 inches in diameter; flesh white, firm; fine grained and tender when young. Purple-top Turnips are a cool season annual used in pastures, wildlife food plots, cover crops and gardens. The bulbous root is white and crisp, turning purple where exposed above the soil. Popular in soil improvement blends as a broadleaf for keeping soil loose. Deer and livestock eat both the tops and roots. Plant 5 lbs per acre for pasture/forage in the Fall or Spring.
