Description
Replacing the Willow Creek variety, Ray is a beardless hard red winter wheat variety developed by Montana State University primarily for forage production, but also suitable for grain. It is known for being a late-maturing, tall, awnless line, producing seed significantly better than the original Willow Creek. Winter wheat cover crops are designed to lessen erosion from runoff of water and wind and to retain the soil. They also contribute to the reduction of mineral leaching and compaction, suppress the amount of weed growth, reduce insect pests and diseases, and increase crop yield.
