55-60 Days | Cylindrical dark red beet grows up to 6″ long and 2″ in diameter, with 8-10″ greens great for spring salads. Great shape for making uniform slices, up to three times as many as a round beet like the heirloom Detroit Dark Red or Ruby Queen. Popular for canning and freezing, this variety has been in our catalog for years.

Plant 3/4″-1″ deep, in rows 24″-36″ apart, thinning to 6″-9″ apart once the seeds sprout.
Packet will sow about 20 ft. Soil: should be rich, deeply plowed, preferably heavy loam. When to plant: as early in the spring as possible (beets will stand light frosts) or may be started in hotbed and transplanted for extra early. For a continuous harvest, plant at 3-week intervals to Aug. 1.
